GeoVerse®210: Steve McMichael Ejection from Wrigley Field

The history between the NFL’s Chicago Bears and MLB’s Chicago Cubs is extensive and includes some ignoble moments. In 2001 Bears defensive tackle Steve McMichael was ejected from Wrigley Field during his seventh-inning stretch hosting duties after intimating that he was going to assault umpire Angel Hernandez after the game because of a questionable call Hernandez made moments earlier. It was the only known time in Major League Baseball history that someone was ejected from a game for their comments made to the crowd, not anything that happened on the field.
